306: retail therapy

Hey there,

Ahhh...wow. I am glad that week is over. I'm sure I'll write more about my brother's death as the weeks and months pass, but for now I am getting back to focusing on my shop.

I spent yesterday and today unpacking and displaying an order from Chronicle Books: oh,  drool.  Rearranging the furniture and creating new displays is a great creative challenge. I love it. I'll photograph some of the new goods for you this week. I can't wait to keep getting more stuff in this spring so I can really go to town.

I have had these Jenny Hart embroidery kits  at the shop for a while.

A few weeks ago I was jonesin' to do some some stitching, and didn't feel like searching for my supplies so I busted into one of the kits.

Using a water-soluble fabric pen, I drew a little birdie (my own doodle design, not in the kit) on the enclosed tea towel and stitched it up:

You can still see some of the blue marker- I didn't spray it enough to dissolve it all yet.

(kit includes hoop, 2 tea towels, patterns, instruction booklet, needle and thread. snips and marker not included, yo!)

I also have a bunch of the Sublime Stitching books which have tons of supercute embroidery pattern transfers in addition to  embroidery instruction and tips.

You can see all the things people make from Jenny's patterns in the Sublime Stitching flickr group.

Working on that little birdie was such fun- I can't wait to start another projects! Maybe some embroidered pillows?

Oh yeah, pillows- that reminds me. A couple of weeks ago, I made 6 pillows using my Sugar Snap fabric mixed with some home dec scraps. They look awesome in our newest makeover room! I will take pics of them this week if we have some sun. {Note to self: next time, photograph pillows before dogs get a chance to make out with them, requiring a case of lintrollers to restore them to their glory.}

Post on the room redo coming soon!  (If you haven't seen my studio or kitchen makeovers go ahead and take a look!)

I just have to tell you how incredible my sweetie Stuart has been. What a dreamboat. Comforting me, listening to me, reminding me to breathe all week.

Love that guy.

Thank you again, everyone, for your love and support. Your comments and emails have been a steady stream of comfort and sweetness in a sad and stressful time.

I'll be back to blogging more often this week. Thanks for being with me.

Giveaway winner to be announced this week!
